How to split a PDF
- Add your PDFDrop the file in the box. The tool tells you how many pages it has.
- Pick a split modeChoose single pages, custom ranges, extract pages or every N pages.
- Type the pagesFor ranges, use commas: 1-3, 4-8, 9-. A dash at the end means “to the last page”.
- Split and downloadPress Split PDF. Save one file or all of them as a ZIP.
The four split modes
| Mode | What you type | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Every page | Nothing | One PDF for each page |
| Custom ranges | 1-3, 4-8, 9- | Three PDFs, one for each range |
| Extract pages | 2, 5, 7-9 | One PDF with only those pages |
| Every N pages | 2 | PDFs with 2 pages each: 1-2, 3-4, 5-6… |
Handy trick: “Every N pages” is great for scanned double-sided forms. Set N to 2 to give each person their own front-and-back file.
Our test: a 33-page manual
33 files in a blink
We split a real 33-page technical manual (674 KB) into single pages.
Each small file opened on its own and kept its sharp, searchable text. Note one thing. All 33 small files added up to about 3.4 MB, which is five times the original. Each file must carry its own copy of the fonts. That is normal for every PDF splitter.
Split or extract: which one do you need?
Use split when you want many files, such as one per chapter or per person. Use extract when you want one file with only a few pages. For example, you may need just the signed page of a contract. Type that page number in Extract pages and you are done.

Final thoughts
Big PDFs are hard to share and slow to open. Often you only need a small part of them. This split PDF tool gives you four simple ways to break a file apart. You can save every page alone, cut it into ranges, pull out a few pages or split it every N pages. Each mode takes only a few seconds.
Our test split a 33-page manual into 33 files in a third of a second. Every page kept its original quality. Remember that many small files can add up to more than the original size, because each one keeps its own fonts. Your document never leaves your device, so it is safe for contracts, bills and school papers.
