The same photo in three formats
Many people download a WebP photo and then need a JPG or PNG. We took an 80 KB WebP photo (1600 × 1067) and converted it with this tool.
The PNG came out almost 20 times bigger than the WebP. PNG never throws away detail, so photos become huge. The lesson is simple. For photos, convert WebP to JPG, not PNG. Save PNG for logos, icons and screenshots.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
JPG cannot store see-through areas. When you convert a PNG or WebP with transparency to JPG, those areas must be filled with a colour. By default this tool uses white. You can pick any other colour in the Fill transparent areas box. PNG and WebP keep transparency as it is.
Good to know: Animated GIF files turn into a still image. The tool keeps the first frame only.
