What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a proposed standard from 2024. It is a plain text file written in Markdown. You place it at the root of your website, like yoursite.com/llms.txt. Some AI tools and agents read it to find your most useful pages quickly, without crawling your whole site.

Our test: an llms.txt file for this site
Seven links in four sections
We used the tool to build an llms.txt file for our own tools. We typed five key pages by hand. Then we pasted three URLs from a sitemap, one of which we had already added.
The tool built titles like Split pdf and Rotate pdf from the URLs. It placed them under a new Pages section, and it kept the Optional section last, as the format suggests. It also caught the URL we had added twice. You can rename any title before you download.
Tip: do not list every page. Pick the 10 to 50 pages that best explain what you do. Put old posts, tags and legal pages in the Optional section or leave them out.
